All About Chris Kyle
Chris as born on April 8th 1974 in Odessa, Texas. His mom was a teacher and his dad a deacon. They moved quite often because his father worked for Southwestern Bell, a telephone company known in the south.
When Chris started to learn how to read and write he also discovered his love for guns. By the time he was 8 years old, his dad had already got him his first gun, a Springfield Rifle. Chris used this gun to hunt. Chris was a natural at hunting and avidly enjoyed hunting deer, quail, and pheasant. That isn't the only thing Chris enjoyed to do that involved guns. He also enjoyed having BB gun wars with his friends and brother.
Not only was Chris a good hunter, he also was very athletic. While Chris was in high school at Midlothian he was involved in Baseball and Football. Not only did he play your normal sports. He also loved horses and rodeos. He practiced a ton after school and on the weekends. He even became a professional bronco rodeo rider! Sadly, his rodeo career was cut short when he had a bad injury that left pins in his left arm. He did go to college but did not last long. All he was worried about was partying and studying was the last thing on his mind. So after only 2 years at Tarleton State, he moved back home and took up the ranch.
While working on the ranch he started thinking about his military options. He briefly thought about joining the air force but thought it wasn't hard enough for him. So, his next thought was Marines, specifically doing Marine Recon(corps most elite warfare unit). When he decided to go talk to a recruiter he walked in and noticed the recruiters try to fight for him. Ignoring them, he walked into the Marines office because that was his initial plan. Unfortunately, they were out to lunch. While he was leaving, the Army recruiter waved him over. They talked briefly but Chris knew Army wasn't an option. So on the way out, the Navy recruiter waved him over. They started talking about the SEALs and that's when Chris decided that he wanted to be a SEAL in the worst way. Unfortunately, with the pins in his arm, the Navy disqualified him and he thought that was the end of his military career. Until one day he got a call with the recruiter asking, "Are you still interested in becoming a SEAL?" Chris answered, "Why?" And all the guy simply said was, "We want you." That was it for Chris. Next thing you know, he's being sent to BUD/S(Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL). Chris did eventually graduate BUD/S and decided he wanted to be a sniper. So, he immediately went to sniper training and also became a sniper.
He met his wife, Taya, at a bar in San Diego named "Maloney's". She walked in, sat down and started drinking. Chris casually approached her and started having a conversation with her. She could tell he was military by his muscular body and his voice that gave it away that he wasn't from that area. She found out he was a SEAL and told him that they were all self-centered, arrogant, and glory-seeking. How sweet of her right? She also told him she would never marry a SEAL. He took it as she would never date one so he told her he was going home. She asked why and he told her because you said you would never date a SEAL. She actually ended up giving him her number and he called numerous times but never an answer. Finally, she called him and he took it as a hint that she was really interested. They started dating and eventually get married and have two kids. (You will hear more about her later.)
